Villaurbana

As has already been mentioned, there are around 60 nuraghi to be found in the area, but very few of these are in good condition. Worthy of mention are those of 'Bau Menda', 'Bidella', 'Cabras' and Porcilis. A visit to the Church of Santa Margherita is also suggested, dating to 1712 and built on the ruins of an existing church from the XIII century. Nature lovers should take a trip to Mount Grighinia and to the S'Utturu de su Cadru springs, in the midst of a wonderful wood of ilex-trees and unspoilt nature. The village is very well-known for its wine and food, characterised by the typical and famous dish of "Is Taccalus", that is, 'partridge'. It craftwork is also highly prized: some of the best known products are its typical baskets, made using ancient techniques. As regards events, it is a good idea to take part in the 'Bread Festival', during which you can taste the many different kinds of bread prepared by the housewives of the village.
