Siapiccia

The parish church dedicated to San Nicol and consecrated in 1605 rises at the highest point in the centre of the village. It houses a wonderful marble altar depicting the Patron Saint. The territory of Siapiccia, which is mainly flat, is characterised by a remarkable quartzite outcrop, which splits the western slopes of Mount Grighine in two and near which the mountain rises. Numerous thermal springs are found in this area; the most famous of these are "Sa mitza de s'acqua callenti" (whose waters flow at a constant temperature of 27 C and have salutary properties), and the "S'arrogana" spring which pours forth microbiologically pure water. In the past quartzite was mined here, from which a dyeing material was extracted. Src: http://www.sardegnaturismo.it/offerta/cultura/cittaepaesi/paesi/siapiccia.html
