Mogoro

Mogoro is well-known all over the Island for its production of Sardinian carpets. This production, apart from handing down the old methods used in the tradition of weaving on a loom, is nowadays one of the strong points of the economy of this little centre in the Oristano area. There are a number of weaving workshops to be seen in the village. An important event that takes place here annually in August is the 'Sardinian Carpet Fair', attended by lots of people, both Sardinian and from other regions, who come to admire these very special carpets. Mogoro is also famous for the production of numerous wines and for its Wine Grower?s Association. The village is also known for its Baroque Parish Church of San Bernardino and especially for the Church of Carmine from the XIV century in late Romanesque style with Gothic elements.
