The parish church of 'San Gregorio Magno' in the historic centre is well worth a visit, with its early- Romanesque floor-plan dating back to the XIII century and with an exposed stone faade. It was rebuilt in the XVIII century and preserves in one of its chapels, a gilded and multi-coloured wooden sculpture of a Mother and Child, attributed to a woodcarver from 1600 belonging to the Neapolitan school. Another church in the village is dedicated to San Lorenzo and is built behind a beautiful garden, half-hidden by a high wall situated behind the cemetery. One of the principal and most meaningful feasts is the celebration for Santa Vittoria held on May 15th, which as well as the religious rites, involves the lighting of a huge bonfire. On 24th June, San Giovanni Battista is celebrated and the 'Sheep and Cheese' Festival takes place. The feast has a religious procession in costume with the participation of a number of riders on horseback who take part in races and events to test their riding skills. During the festivities for San Giovanni, all the participants are offered a meal of boiled mutton with local wine. Src: http://www.sardegnaturismo.it/offerta/cultura/cittaepaesi/paesi/bauladu.html
