Senis

The completely renovated baronial palace, dating to 1662, comprising a manor house, stables, prisons and a huge tower is worthy of note and likewise, the "Is Nueddas" 'tancato' Nuraghe, which was originally used as a garden. Here, on the right-hand side of the Rio Imbessu, we find the famous Spanish fountain, built in around 1600, and sculpted in different coloured trachyte, of which the figures of two swans in bas-relief, the mascaron and other ornamental designs are still almost intact. The Parish Church of San Giovanni, dating to the XVI century, must also be visited. It preserves a number of interesting furnishings, such as the altar of the Rosary and the base of the High altar, dating to 1608, which was originally the holy water stoup. As regards events, we should remember that the village is particularly famous for the 'Snail festival', organised by the Local Tourist Board and a traditional appointment of the summer in Senis. It takes place in August and includes the free tasting of snails, cooked with various local recipes by expert chefs from the village and distributed to all and sundry by the volunteers. On this occasion it is possible to visit the old recently renovated 'Casa Baronale', and the Spanish Fountain. Src: http://www.sardegnaturismo.it/offerta/cultura/cittaepaesi/paesi/senis.html
