Mogorella

The main attraction of the village is its Nuraghic sites: its territory has in fact seven nuraghi, among which the most important are the 'Su Fraiariosu' Protonuraghe and the 'Luas' and 'Fenogu' Nuraghi. The 'Su Friariosu' Protonuraghe, which rises on a calcareous plateau just outside the village, is of particular interest because it represents a link between the simple protonuraghi and the more evolved 'tholos' type. This is a corridor Protonuraghe dating back to a period stretching from the early Bronze to the Mid Bronze Age. The Patron Saint of Mogorella is San Lorenzo, and festivities in his honour are held twice a year. The first is held on May 20th with a procession accompanied by folkloristic groups and horsemen; at the same time the 'Sheep Festival' is held, during which you can taste this tasty meat together with some good local wine. The second feast is held between 9th and 11th August when folk groups put on a show with traditional dancing and singing.
