The parish Church of Sant'Andrea, the Church of 'Santa Croce' and the one of Santa Chiara are worthy of particular attention. The parish church, built in exposed trachyte, is very beautiful from a structural point of view, since it was built by local artists in the seventeenth century in Gothic-Aragonese style. The faade has a huge decorative rose-window which surmounts the Gothic portal with a Gothic arch; the bell tower was built in 1769 and dominates the whole Tirso valley. The imposing Santa Chiara dam, built between 1918 and 1924, is of profound interest. It may be considered a proper archaeological industrial monument of particular importance because it allowed the formation of Lake Omodeo, the largest artificial basin in Europe. Thanks to the hydroelectric power plant, built lower down from the dam, Ul Tirso was the first village in Sardinian to make use of its electrical energy.
