Siamaggiore

The little centre has a charming well-looked after historic centre with the typical architecture of the villages of the Campidanese area, whose economy is based on agriculture, with low houses, roomy courtyards and narrow streets. A number of houses are still built in 'ladiri' (green bricks). A trip to the modern farm on the reclaimed area of Pardu Nou is certainly of great interest for visitors to Siamaggiore. The Parish Church of San Costantino is of particular importance in the village, an example of late-Baroque style architecture of the eighteenth century. A visit to the charming country Church of San Ciriaco is also recommended, of Romanesque origins and situated at about 1 Km from the inhabited centre. Every year on 18th February, the famous 'Artichoke Festival' is celebrated in the village, attracting hordes of visitors. In August instead, it is the turn of the celebrations for the Feast of San Ciriaco, characterised by a series of civil and religious events that will surely enthral any visitor.
