The Town Hall houses the Civic Archaeological Collection: an exhibition of objects from the Roman necropolis of 'S'Ungroni!. The area is also of great interest for its landscape and animals: the 'S'Ena Arrubia' lagoon near the coast is the habitat of a great number of birds. A splendid far-stretching pine forest is found in the Marina d'Arborea area almost right in front of the beach. About 9 km away, we find the fishing village of Marcedd on the edge of the lagoon, dominated by the sixteenth century Torrevecchia. As well as visiting the village itself with its distinctive architecture, it is also worth a trip to see the water-scoping machine at Sassu, opened in 1934, which stands out for its height and its decidedly innovative modernistic and futuristic design. As regards food, the area?s dairy products are renowned but its fruit and vegetables can not be forgotten, especially the strawberries, which even have a festival held in their honour on the first Sunday in May every year. The last Sunday in October is the turn of the 'Polenta' Festival offering the chance to taste this famous Venetian dish served with cheese, sausage and stew.
