Led by the Inspector General of prisons, Cavaliere Eugenio Cicognani, sent by the Ministry of the Interior, the handful of forced people, established the first residence, had the task of reclaiming the infected territory and giving new life to a territory now abandoned and uninhabited for 350 years .
