The National Park of the Gulf of Orosei - Gennargentu

The park lies in the provinces of Nuoro and Ogliastra. It includes the Bay of Orosei and the area of Gennargentu with the highest mountain in Sardinia, Punta La Marmora. The must see areas include the Supramonte of Oliena and the valley of Lanaittu; the Supramonte of Orgosolo; the karst spring of Su Gologone, the main in Sardinia; the canyon of Su Gorropu, the deepest in Italy, and perhaps in all Europe; Su Suercone, an enormous sink-hole which includes a stand of ancient yew trees, caves and chasms; the caves of Su Bentu and Sa Oche, extending for about 15 km; and the Gulf of Orosei, stretching from the Supramonte to Cala Gonone and Santa Maria Navarrese with soaring limestone cliffs pierced by sea caves (Bue Marino-Dorgali) and hiding charming sandy coves (Cala Luna-Dorgali).
