The Masua and Porto Flavia mine site

The Masua mine site was already known at the end of '600, and this is evidenced by the presence of excavations, tunnels and stove in the limestone for lead and silver search. It is particularly striking the inclusion of the construction of the limestone rock with a sea view. Towards the sea are the enrichment facilities built after the II World War and the arrival station of the mineral, at the basin of the tailings that has profoundly altered the landscape. Masua is one of the simplest settlements, but common features of the village-type not planned and developed in relation to the business fortunes of the company that owns the concession. Still retains a number of buildings nestled in the woods on slopes protected by ballast stone. Porto Flavia Masua is located in the town and in the municipality of Iglesias, and can be reached easily along the provincial road 83 to the beach of Masua from where a dirt road that leads uphill to the end of the mining area.
