The Nuragic civilization was born in Sardinia in the early Bronze Age (1800 BC) and flourished until the second century BC. It is named after nuraghi, word that means “pile of stones” and “cavity”, which goes to indicate a type of military architecture with turreted walls. The archaeological zone of Su Nuraxi, since 1997 enrolled in UNESCO World Heritage Lists because of its uniqueness, is the most important among the testimonies of the Nuragic presence on the island.
