Arbus is famous for the manufacture of the 'arrasoias', the knives with curved blades made by local craftsmen. The abandoned village of 'Ingurtosulies' lies in the surrounding area, built by the French 'Pertusola' company, once the owners of the mine. The houses, the church and the administrative buildings are surrounded by the green of the Mediterranean shrub and the pine forest. A dirt track descends among the mines, abandoned buildings and the enormous tips as far as Narcauli and the ruins of the quarry built just after the war. Once a decauville railway transported the ore to the sea where it was loaded on the ships. Several tracts of the old rails with the wagons can be seen on the beach at Piscinas, near the 'Le Dune' Hotel which has been established in an old mine building. At the back there lies a stretch of white dunes formed by the wind and covered with the green of the Mediterranean shrub. The beach extends for 9 km towards the south as far as Capo Pecora, while to the north a rocky coast called Costa Verde takes its place. The mining areas of 'Ingurtosu' and 'Montevecchio' are famous all over the world. The beaches of the Costa Verde, Piscinas, Torre dei Corsari and Scivu have often received the top '5 Vele' (5 Sails) award of the 'Legambiente. ' The hamlets of Sant'Antonio, Santadi, Ingurtosu and Montevecchio are to be found in the Commune Of Arbus. Src: http://www.sardegnaturismo.it/offerta/cultura/cittaepaesi/paesi/arbus.html
